Flooded Folds

Flooded Folds is a cozy 2.5D isometric puzzle game about folding paper to reach the evacuation zone during a flood. The game educates the player about the hazards they should avoid during this kind of disaster. This information is particularly relevant against the backdrop of climate change, which is making floods more frequent and expanding their possible range.

This game was created over the course of 2 months as part of the University of Florida (UF) Cross-Cultural Engineering in Japan program. The environments take inspiration from the UF students' travels in and around Kyoto, and much of the information present in the game was provided by Kyoto University Graduate Students doing research on disasters.

Three Hazards

• Electricity: Downed wires
• Erosion: Falling rocks
• Rushing Water: Fast impact water 

• Left-Click: Select a tile to move and confirm your decision. Left-Click + Drag mouse to change the angle of a paper-fold and confirm.
• B: Open and close the player's scrapbook.
• E: Continue Radio-Man's dialogue.
• R: Rotate the camera
• X: Skip Level
• Z: Previous Level
• Esc: Open and close "Continue", "Restart", "Quit" menu

On Hover: 

• Selectable Tiles: Yellow Translucent
• Selected Tile: Blue Opaque
• Pop-ups: Pink Outline

In  Level 1 Bus - When the player jumps off of the bus too quickly, they stop moving and have to restart.

Using X and Z to move between levels may cause multiple music tracks to play at the same time.

"Continue", "Quit", and "Restart" buttons on the Esc menu may not be clickable if the radio is displaying text.
